Asif Mahtab Let Go For Vandalism: BRAC University

Brac University has announced that it will not extend the contract of part-time teacher Asif Mahtab, who gained attention for tearing up a Class VII textbook.

The announcement follows an incident where Mahtab ripped pages from a history and social science textbook that included a chapter on transgender community awareness, sparking a debate.

The university, emphasizing its commitment to constructive discussion and exchange of views, clarified that it does not endorse destructive activities such as damaging national property.

The act of tearing pages from the textbook by Asif Mahtab was deemed destructive and inconsistent with the behavior expected of a teacher, leading to the decision not to renew his contract.

Brac University expressed its dedication to upholding the country's constitution and laws and disassociated itself from any social media propaganda falsely linking the institution to the promotion of homosexuality.

The university affirmed its belief in equal rights and opportunities for all.
